This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to how to respond appropriately to individuals living with a mental health illness, experiencing exacerbation of an existing mental health illness, or are experiencing an active mental health crisis. The Standard MHFA course is offered under the authority of Mental Health First Aid Australia, based upon guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experiences of mental health problems and mental health professionals.
