About the Provide Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation course

The Absolute Medical Response Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) course provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to respond to respiratory and cardiac emergencies. This unit equips students with the skills and technique required to perform chest compressions and rescue breathing in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Topics in this course include:

  • Principles of First Aid
  • Legal issues and considerations
  • Resuscitation and airway emergencies
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED)
  • Stress management and evaluating a first aid response
  • Infection control
  • Communication skills, including conveying details of incidents to medical professionals
  • Documenting injuries
  • Recognition of psychological impacts

Upon completion of this nationally-recognised and accredited training course, students with be awarded the statement of attainment for: Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009)

Course duration

Absolute Medical Response provides two options for course attendance:

Option 1: The Absolute Medical Response ‘Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009)’ course is conducted face-to-face over 4 hours, which includes both theory and practical sessions. The recommended industry standard for maintaining competency in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation is every 12 months.

Option 2: The Absolute Medical Response ‘Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009)’ blended course is conducted via online video lecture, followed by a 2-hour face-to-face session which covers necessary practical components. The recommended industry standard for maintaining competency in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation is every 12 months.
