About the Provide First Aid course

The Absolute Medical Response “Provide First Aid” (HLTAID011) course has been offered to community groups, corporations and individuals for over 20 years and is nationally recognised and accredited.

The “Provide First Aid” (HLTAID011) course equips students with the skills and knowledge required to provide comprehensive a First Aid response across a diverse range of situations until the arrival of medical assistance.

Absolute Medical Response provides this course to the public and bespoke courses to corporations and community groups. These programs can be conducted at our training institute or onsite at your work place.

Topics covered include:

  • Principles and emergency priorities
  • Legal issues and considerations
  • Infection control
  • Resuscitation and airway emergencies
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED)
  • First aid – secondary survey, vital signs and handover
  • Asthma
  • Allergic reaction and anaphylaxis
  • First aid for medical emergencies – heart attack, diabetes, seizure, stroke, hyperventilation, temperature-related emergencies
  • First aid trauma emergencies – bleeding shock and crush injury; head, neck and spinal injury; fracture management and abdominal injuries; soft tissue and eye injuries; burns; venomous bites, stings and poison
  • Stress management, debrief and evaluation of an incident
  • Documenting injuries
  • Communication strategies

Absolute Medical Response have a highly-credentialed and qualified team of Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Nurses and Intensive Care Paramedics who provide an interactive and clinical understanding of the requirements of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Course duration

The Absolute Medical Response “Provide First Aid” (HLTAID011) course is delivered in a blended format, which includes an online video and pre-course work, followed by 5 hours face-to-face learning.
